Lazy Sunday Burgers

I tried buying pre-made burgers once, couldn’t find any at Whole Foods that weren’t vegan, so started to make my own. Ohhhhhh, what a game-changer!!!!! I always have ground beef handy because, it’s darn handy! It’s the easiest meat you can cook, and make tacos out of it, chili, burgers, add it to your quinoa, or your pasta, it’s just marvelous!!!!!

My Favorite Quinoa Recipe - Black Bean Quinoa

As a full-time working mom, who loves to cook every single day, one of my magic tools is this OXO Garlic Press. This has made my frantic food prep so much easier. Before buying this guy, I was using a grandma style mortar, which yeah, it is great for other things, just not this specific task. If there is one tool that I use for the majority of my recipes this is it.

Mami’s lasagna

TIPS:

  • To me, the no-boil lasagna doesn’t taste the same as the boil method. Add a tsp of salt and a tbsp of vegetable oil so the pasta doesn’t stick together.

  • Follow the package instructions and boil it for about 10-11 minutes.

  • IMPORTANT: don’t overcook it. If you do, the pieces will rip and it’s not going to look pretty.

  • When finished, run the pasta through cold water, so it stops cooking, and it’s also easier for when you have to lay them in the baking dish.

  • Keep in mind that you need to divide the meat, cheeses and sauce among the 3 layers of pasta.

  • As for the meat, I like to use Nature’s Rancher 85/15 lean 100% organic. I don't have a specific shredded cheese kind, I use whatever is on sale.  I like to switch it up but my favorites are mozzarella and the Mexican mix. The other things are pretty standard, whatever you’d like to use will work.

  • I always cover the bottom of the pan with sauce from the ground beef, and the top with a little bit of all the ingredients.

  • Never leave the top part dry.

You Can't Leave Philly Without This!

My story usually begins when I'm walking back from the gym, of course, all those burned calories are haunting your dreams of a flat stomach and glowing skin with the sweet, oh sweet smell of a fried chicken sandwich.
